Toronto and Region Conservation Projects
As urban land cover and human populations increase in the Region of Peel and as climate continues to change as global trends show, a strategy needs to be in place to mitigate and adapt to the pressures of both landscape and climate changes. The opportunity is now, as urban growth planning is under way.
The region has many of its own ‘natural wonders’ that will be negatively impacted (in some cases, these ‘impacts’ have already begun) by the changing climate. In order to enhance and preserve the quality of life for all who call the Region of Peel their home, we are taking action to meet today’s challenges.
The Region of Peel, Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) and Credit Valley Conservation are working together, committed to preserving, protecting and improving Peel’s natural environment and resources—for today and tomorrow. This is about you, your family, your home, your community. This is about making life better in Peel, through projects—from flood protection to habitat restoration to community transformation; and programs—from community outreach workshops to educating students on climate change, sustainability and the environment.
